Star Spangled Rice Krispie Treats

What's more American than rice krispie treats?
This was based on the Kellogg's Rice Krispie Treats Fourth of July Cut-Outs Recipe, but I added my own twist...

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons smooth peanut butter
  • 1 10 oz package marshmallows
  • 6 cups Kellogg's Rice Krispies cereal
  • Red and blue sprinkles
  • Cooking spray
  1. Melt the butter over low heat in a large pot. Add peanut butter and melt. (Make sure to keep stirring or the peanut butter will scorch.) Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted.
  2. Remove from heat and add the rice krispies cereal. Stir until combined and ooey gooey.
  3. With a buttered spatula, spread mixture into a 13" x 9" glass pan coated with cooking spray. Pack down with spatula until flat.
  4. Add red and blue sprinkles to treats in alternating stripes, leaving space in between for the "white" stripe. I used paper as stenciles to make my stripes straight. Press down sprinkles so they stick to the treats.
  5. Using buttered cookie cutters, cut out star shapes. If there's a lot of excess, you can smush together larger pieces and cut star shapes out of those. Serve immediately! :)
